Peacefully at Ashburton Hospital. Dearly loved wife of Kevin for 55 years. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Stephen, Donna and Nigel. Dearly loved grandmother of Tara and Nathan. Dearly loved great-grandmother of Jenn. Much loved daughter of the late Clarrie and Peggy Dolan. Dearly loved sister and sister-in-law of the late Marie and Derek Smitheram, Veronica and the late Michael O'Reilly, Anne and Donald Hooper. Loved Auntie of all her nieces and nephews. Dearly loved daughter-in-law of the late Percy and Margaret Harkness, and sister-in-law of Brian and the late Kathrine. Messages to the family of Bernie Harkness, PO Box 472, Ashburton 7740. A Requiem Mass to celebrate Bernie's life will be held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Thomson Street, Tinwald, on Friday, August 9, commencing at 2.00pm, followed by private cremation at Ashburton Crematorium. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at the church on Thursday, August 8, commencing at 6.00pm.

My sincere condolences to Kevin, Stephen, Donna, and family on you loss. Fond memories back in the Thomson St days. I could always time my visits to Mrs. Harkness freshly baked bread. Handy when you only live across the road.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Bernie and sincere condolences from Marg and myself. Have memories of Bernie in the early 90's working at the Toyota agency on Tancred Street. A lovely lady who will be remembered forever.
