09.02.1956 – 30.09.2023 On September 30, 2023, peacefully at Nurse Maude Hospice following a brave and valiantly fought battle with cancer. Aged 67 years. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, and sister. Dearly loved wife of John, much loved mother of Charlotte, Lucy, and Justin. Mother-in-law of Bobby, and John. Very proud grandmother of Maia, Mason, William, and Amelia. Loved daughter of Veronica and the late Pat McAfee. Sister to Anne, Ruth, Patrick, and Peter (S.M.). A dedicated teacher who devoted her life to raising her own children while educating junior school pupils, particularly those who needed Reading Recovery assistance. A Requiem Mass to celebrate Mary-Ellen's life will be held at St Mary's Pro Cathedral, 373 Manchester Street, Christchurch, on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 1.30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Nurse Maude Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

So sad to hear of Mary Ellen´s passing. Our thoughts are with all her family. I have a plant she gave me when she left for Christchurch. It has multiplied and graces my garden, I often think of her when I see it. May God bless.
