I was very saddened to hear about the passing of a kind and smart man, Mr Pearce was my economics teacher and cricket coach at Aranui High School, '95-'99, he did so much to make sure our cricket games were organized every Saturday even with it being his day off. Rest in peace Mark. My thoughts are with his wife and daughter at this time.

As my dean and Economics teacher, (1995-1999 Aranui High School) I was very saddened to hear about Mr Pearce's passing away. As an exemplary mentor you were a member of staff that I could confide in and look up to, eventually inspiring me to become a commerce teacher. The influence you had on my education inside and outside the classroom made a significant difference to my schooling and post-schooling life, as I'm sure you had on hundreds of others. Thank you for everything you did.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr Pearce's family.

Mark, I can't believe you have gone. You have been one of the most highly esteemed colleagues that I have ever worked with. Your passion for creative education, the standards that you set and expertise you brought to developing the new national qualifications are outstanding. I admire and will miss your professional commitment and good humour that you have contributed over the years.
To your family who I do not know, you have lost a wonderful man who gave heaps to the profession and those who he worked with. My sympathy is with you and may Mark's memory live on forever.
