Mark McFARLANE Obituary

On November 20, 2025, Mark passed away peacefully at Christchurch Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, aged 71. Dearly loved partner of Nicola Ogier. Much-loved father and father-in-law of Melissa and Dwaine, and Steven and Anne. Loved brother of Paul, and the late Carol Ann and Neil. Treasured Grandad of Hailee, Cohan, Ethan and Jacob. Cherished step-dad to James and Emilia, and Matthew and Kimberley. Former husband of Sharon McFarlane. Mark will be deeply missed by his extended family and many friends. Livestream of the funeral is available via johnrhind.co.nz on Mark's notice in upcoming funerals. A celebration of Mark's life will be held in the John Rhind Chapel, entry from London or Whitmore Streets, Christchurch, on Tuesday, November 25, at 1.00pm. The family will accompany Mark for a private burial.

I don´t have memory of Mark without that smile. A wonderful person from day one to the day he left us. I had the privilege of his being one to of his 40+ cousins that got to spend time on the farm in Kirwee many family dinners and the annual Clarks picnics. His Mum Ray McFarlane née Clark my father Frank´s sister. Mark, Paul and Carolanne were like wonderful older siblings to my brother and sisters and we will never forget the wonderful man and his beautiful whanau.
