Marjorie MARFELL Obituary

MARFELL, Marjorie Winifred
May 11, 1918 – November 22, 2017
Marjorie Winifred Marfell, beloved mother and grandmother passed away November 22, 2017 at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre at the age of 99. She is survived by her son, Terry (Sandra Marfell) of Fort Langley, BC and daughter, Ellen (Merv Berscheid) of Saskatoon; granddaughter Michelle (Sean Doyle) of Chestermere, Alberta and granddaughter, Deborah (Richard Kies) of Saskatoon. Mom was born in Andover, Hants, England in 1918. She grew up on a farm alongside three brothers who all predeceased her. She pursued a nursing career and while nursing in London hospital during WWII she met Harold Marfell of Rosetown, SK. They were married in Scotland in 1943 and welcomed a son, Terry in 1944. In the spring of 1945, Mom and Terry arrived in Canada on the SS Scythia and made their way across Canada to Rosetown. Ellen arrived on the scene in 1948. Mom continued her nursing career at the hospital and Rosetown Medical Clinic. Upon Harold's retirement in 1976 they moved to Fanny Bay, BC. Many happy occasions were spent in this community and they were very involved in the Legion, Lions, OAP, and War Brides Associations. Mom remained in her own home until the age of 94 when she moved to Saskatoon and lived at the Palisades Care Home. Her declining health precipitated a recent move to Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre. The family would like to thank all the staff and care givers for their attention and love during the past five years. A family memorial will take place at a later date when we will take Mom's ashes to join Dad in Courtenay, BC. Arrangements entrusted to Acadia McKague's Funeral Centre.
