On February 22, peacefully and gracefully, aged 86 years. Marion was a much loved and loving wife of the late John. Eldest sister of Janice and Anne (deceased), Helen and June. Mother and mother-in-law of Frances, John and Anita, Tim and Caroline, Jen and Tony, Chris and Kanthi. Proud grandmother of Sam and Daya, Lucy, Tem, Ciaran, Florence, Grainne, Saskia, Josephine, Gisele, Ezra, Laras, Sati and Lily, and great-grandma of Lottie, and Felix. A respected teacher, loyal friend, Marion was a woman of quiet strength, wisdom and resilience. Our sincere thanks for the love and care given to Marion by the staff at St Allisa. Messages for the O'Connell family can be sent to 19 London Street, Christchurch 8013. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, entrance will be by Vaccine Pass Only. A Requiem Mass will be Celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 70 Spencer Street, Addington, Christchurch, on Tuesday, March 1, at 11.00am.

My deepest sympathies to all the family. Marion was truly a lovely aunty all my life. Always attentive and inquisitive about what I was up to. We shall miss her spirit from this world! May she and John live together in heaven. I´ll be thinking of you during the Requiem Mass. RIP dear Marion.

Dearest Marion, my favourite aunty, with the comfort and support when I needed that someone to turn to. Wonderful memories ... the holidays in Akaroa and Dunedin ... you are now with God and your beloved John. Rest in peace.
