Marie Jean (nee Murcott):
After a brave battle with cancer, passed away peacefully at her home with both her sons at her side, on March 26, 2016. Treasured Mother of Thomas and Simon. Deeply loved and respected soulmate, friend and wife of the late Michael Leonard Thorp. Much loved eldest daughter of Mollie and the late Harry Murcott. Dearly loved sister, sister-in-law and best friend of Susan and Peter Grant, Andrew and the late Martha Murcott , Kerry and Jack Murdoch, Raewyn and Rex Hamilton. Adored Aunty of Hamish, William, Natalie: Daniel, Elicia, Mitchell: Jasmin, Luka: Georgia, Simone, Olivia: Loved great-aunt of Aaliyah and Meela. A very special friend of Pete. A service to celebrate Marie's life will be held at St Paul's Presbyterian Church, Coquet Street, Oamaru, on Thursday, March 31, commencing at 1.30pm, followed by a private interment. Messages to 303 Reservoir Road, Oamaru 9492.

Dearest Marie,
A treasured friend, nursing classmate & my bridesmaid. So vibrant, fun loving, generous & compassionate. Her wonderful cheerful personality, her laugh & her passion for dancing & music will remain in our hearts forever. So many fond memories.
My thoughts & prayers are with Mollie, Thomas & Simon as well as all the Murcott & Thorp families and Marie's extensive group of friends.

(Aged 58). Passed away on March 26, 2016. Much loved sister-in-law of Sally and Richard Borrie, Dave Thorp and Suzanne Pidduck, Richard and Lee-Anne Thorp. Also much loved aunt of Charlotte and William; Michael, Mary and Haana; Harry and Jack. More a sister than a sister-in-law, Marie will live in our loving memories – youthful trips to Europe, family parties, her love of dancing and music, her generosity of spirit, her love for Mike, Thomas and Simon.
