Marie POFF Obituary
(Sister Marie RSM):
On September 11, 2022, at Essie Summers, Christchurch, supported by her Mercy community, family and staff. Dearly loved member of Nga Whaea Atawhai o Aotearoa, Sisters of Mercy New Zealand, in the 74th year of her religious profession, aged 94 years. Dearly loved daughter of the late Hannah and Michael, much loved sister and sister-in-law of the late Hugh and Eileen, Kathleen, Patricia and Bill Nicholas (all deceased), Michael (Christchurch) and the late Patricia, the late Monica and John Haughey, Joan (deceased), and Basil and Christine (Palmerston North). A loved aunt and great-aunt of her nieces and nephews. Special thanks to staff of Essie Summers and Mercy carers. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Bernadette's Church, Hei Hei Rd, Hei Hei, Christchurch, Tomorrow (Thursday), at 10.30am, followed by interment at Waimairi Cemetery, Grahams Road. Vigil prayers at Te Manawa Atawhai Catherine McAuley Centre, 21 Peer Street, Upper Riccarton, This Day (Wednesday), at 7.00pm. Livestream link:

My prayerful sympathy love and care as you farewell such a special woman. I always remember her to be so gracious, gentle, thoughtful and caring and her smile was always quick to welcome you when you came into her presence. At present I am on holiday with my family here in Hawkes Bay so unable to be present at her funeral to say my goodbyes. Thank you for the privilege of knowing her. Be assured of my prayer. Deepest sympathy to Sr Marie's family and friends. We have such fond memories of Marie. She was a kind, happy, caring and intelligent lady and a wonderful friend to Auntie Margaret (Sr Margaret Kelly). We enjoyed her visit when we were sharemilking on the West Coast. She was a country girl and so interested in what was happening on the farm. A life well lived.
