Marie BOSWELL Obituary

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Essie Summers Hospital, surrounded by family, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Neil. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Mary and David, Anne and Brian, and Trish and Steve. Loved grandmother of Taylor, Olivia, Josh, Rachel and Alex. Loved great-grandmother of Jacob and Willow. Loved sister of Denis and the late Michael. Loved aunty to all her nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at Diana Isaac Retirement Village and especially the Essie Summers Hospital for their love, care, and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society NZ, Christchurch branch would be appreciated and can be made online at: www.cancer.org.nz. Marie's funeral will be held in the John Rhind Chapel, entrance from London or Whitmore Streets, Richmond, Christchurch, on Wednesday, April 16, at 1.00pm, followed by a private burial.

Please accept my sincere sympathy at the death of Marie.
I was Bev Cassie and grew up next door to Marie who lived with `Aunt Eve and `Uncle Bill´ at School Road in Fairlie. She was a little older than me and we went to different schools but we spent many happy times together.
There was a mumps or measles sickness and we weren´t allowed to meet in person so wrote secret notes in orange juice which required a hot iron to reveal. One day I was at her place and Marie got an apple which she obviously wasn´t to have and when A. Eve accosted her she was so quick to say that Nina (from the farm) had sent it to her over the phone!!! I was absolutely gobsmacked at that and even today science hasn´t quite caught up with her. Somewhere I have a photo of the 2 of us in the middle of School Road when the road was frozen thick with ice,
Then there were visits to Marie and Neil in Halswell when we (my husband and I ) travelled from the North Island . We were regaled with stories of your family going on camping holidays in a Kombi van.
