Leonard POCOCK Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Mayfair Arvida, Riccarton, on October 22, 2025, aged 99 years, having enjoyed a full, enthusiastic and active life. A loyal and beloved husband of Joan (deceased) and caring father of Stu (deceased), he is succeeded by his remaining children Verna, Lance, Grant and Janice, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, most living in Australia. He moved around the country with the NZ Railways; Taumarunui, Upper Hutt, Heretaunga, Greymouth - returning to Christchurch, and eventually taking a well-earned early retirement a stone's throw from where he was born in Riccarton. He came alone and left alone. Life played out in between.… with loving family ties, many fine friendships from all walks of life, sporting achievements, and love of gardening - a 'salt of the earth' and one of a kind, who always helped others, has left us behind. RIP dearest dad… in our grateful hearts and minds always. John has altruistically and practically made his body available for medical science and his ashes will later be interred in the rose garden at Otago University. Therefore, as per his wishes, there will be no memorial service or funeral.
