Wow, sad news. Am just finding this out now. Thank you to Laurie for taking me on as an apprentice at Admark in 2008. You were always good to me and were very approachable as a boss (you hated being called the boss). A life well lived.

I worked with Laurie , running the Nova programme in Hamilton back in the 90s . He was a great boss , full of fun , community minded . I guess because we both had a great love of Singapore we were always talking about Asia . He loved his family v much and taught me some v good things . Warmest regards Joanna MacDonald

James K Baxter's poem `New Zealand´ is about our beautiful country. But Baxter´s poem is not just about our landscape, it´s about the impact we as Kiwis have on shaping our Nation: "These unshaped islands, on the sawyer's bench, wait for the chisel of the mind". Throughout his life Laurie always took his turn with his chisel, and he used it with vigor, purpose and an unrelenting commitment to serve others. He was a great Kiwi. Kate, Julie & Ken
