Lawrence James (Lawrie): QSO
On August 18, 2017, on his 89th birthday at Anthony Wilding Retirement Village surrounded by his loving family. Dearly loved husband of Lena, much loved father and father-in-law of Paul and Janet, Sarah and Adrian and Victoria and Scott. Loved Grandad of Anne and Andrew; Daniel and Fraser; and Briony. A heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Anthony Wilding for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers donations to the Friends of the Botanic Gardens would be much appreciated and may be made at the service. Messages to the Metcalf family c/- PO Box 111-01, Christchurch 8443. At Lawrie's request a private cremation has taken place but a Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Lincoln Events Centre, Meijer Drive, Lincoln, on Friday, September 1, at 1.30pm.

Hi Lena. Sad to read the death notice of Lawrie but 89 is a very good age to reach. Have used his books for information when tour guiding over the past 20 years and what a ton of information. Hope you are keeping well. Dave Kerr
