Kevin MEATES Obituary
On the morning of Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, Kevin passed away peacefully in his sleep. Loved husband of Jean, father and father-in-law of Maud and Dee, Mark and Mary, Rob and Kirsty, Helen and Simon, Kev and Margie, Jeremy and Angela, Marion and Bruce, Alexandra and Brian, Andrew and Emily and Julian and Lou. Grandfather to Tom, Alex, William, Harriet, Georgia, Kate, Josh, Alex, James, Violet, Molly, Joe, Lewis, Amelia, Grace, Harry, Albert, Claudia, Sienna, Olivia, Emma, Abbie, Charlotte, Madeline, Frankie, Billy, Olly, Archie, Joshua (RIP) and Ishiah, and great-grandfather to Maia-Jean, Archie, Bella, Leo and Joshy and surrogate father to many more. The family would like to take the opportunity to thank the many carers who have assisted Kevin over the years with such kindness, compassion and grace. He has made an impact in many areas of his life and the ripples from those will continue to influence others well into the future.

Messages may be addressed to The Meates Family, C/- 19 London Street, Richmond, Christchurch 8013. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Kevin at Christ the King Catholic Church, Greers Road, Christchurch, on Friday, April 22 at 11.00am.

Please accept our condolences from Eileen and myself. I first met Kevin when a junior lawyer at Simes Jacobsen & Steel. He was an astute businessman and good to deal with. Both he and Jean subsequently lived next door to us for a short time at Brackendale Place. Please accept our sympathy and condolences.
