Keith YOUNG Obituary

Passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, February 22, 2024, aged 76 years. Husband and best mate of Jo, loved dad and father-in-law of Tracy and Ian, Jo and Mike, Richard and Jill, and Nigel, a much-loved grandad, brother and brother-in-law of Betty and Les, and former husband and friend of Lee. A good friend too many, and a good neighbour. Heartfelt thanks to the Darfield District Health Nurses, Dr Paul Ruggle, and Jordyn Liddington, for their care and kindness. Messages may be addressed to The family of the late Keith Young c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Darfield District Nurses Association, would be appreciated and may be made online to: Malvern Health & Community Welfare Trust 38-9025-0519563-00. A service to celebrate Keith's life will be held at Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside, on Thursday, February 29, at 6.00pm. A private cremation to follow.

I am really sad to hear of Keith's passing. He was a great leader and a fantastic mentor to me personally and also for everyone else he interacted with in his time as our leader of Decision Support at the DHB. I remember that time with fondness as it was one of the best teams I have been a part of, I learnt so much from Keith and I think of him often. Keith was fun, driven and we build a real strong team that created something special that made a real difference. What a legend!

I am extremely sad that a good boss, colleague & friend is around no more. Keith gave myself and many members of his staff wonderful support and will always be remembered for his cheerful approach to everything at work. I will remain forever grateful to him for the opportunities he made available to me, and am delighted that our paths continued to cross from time to time over his retirement years. All our love to Jo and wider family.
