Just tried to look Keith up on Facebook for a chat. I had no idea and I am so sad to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful man, so selfless, and a really good friend .. Even though we didn't chat much he was always available for a friendly chat. Will miss you very much and I'm so sorry I didn't get to say goodbye at your funeral. Much love... Glenda

Dearest kids,
I'm so terribly sorry for your loss. Your Dad loved you all so much and was so proud of you.
Your Dad and I had been close for the passed year only, but he was such an amazing friend and good person that he had a big influence on my life. We were in contact daily and in his last week was trying to down play his illness. He said "I'll be fine, I always am"
Love to you and your family xxx
I hope I can chat with you one day about your Dad.

To Makaela, Henry & William,

Your dad always talked to me about you the way every child hopes their parent talks about them to other people. He was a mentor and a friend who made me think, disagree and above all laugh. Thinking of you at this time and sending you love and strength.

Keith and I were very close buddies during high school and Bible class years especially...recently we would connect sporadically on our shared birthdays . I will always remember him as a great friend who shared lots of adventures with me...skiing, camping, golfing, sharing music, crazy humour and above all caring and loyal.
I will really miss him , his candle burned brightly. Sincere condolences to all his family.

Dear Makaela, Henry & William,

The staff of Bucklands Beach Intermediate would like to extend our sincere condolences on the passing away of your dad. Keith was a great friend and colleague and we will always remember his wonderful sense of humour, his enthusiasm for all things ICT and the kindness and care that he showed the students. He always had time to help us solve our email or ICT problems which we really appreciated. As Aucklanders we suffered many long years of Canterbury Crusaders Super Rugby victories which your dad never failed to rub in during morning teas. Despite his ribbing he always did it in a good natured way. Many of us have happy memories of how you all went to school at BBI. It was so evident how proud your dad was of you. Those of us who were able to be at the funeral today thought that you spoke so well and honoured your dad in an amazing, heartfelt way. He would have been so moved by what you said and so so proud. As a staff we feel so sorry for you and you are in our thoughts and prayers. If there's anything that we can do please let us know.

Love the BBI Staff (past and present)

Just wanted to say thank you and sorry for your loss, from the parents of one his students at MHJC. Keith was obviously a very passionate, influential and inspiring media teacher (and I'm sure, parent) who has passed on his passion to so many. Our daughter is devastated at the loss of someone she looked up to and learned so much from this year, he will not be forgotten. RIP Mr Smith.

Dear Makaela, Henry & William,

Was very saddened to hear of your Dad's sudden passing. He and I were work colleagues at MHJC and we had a very special friendship. He spoke of the three of you all the time and was the proudest father ever. I will miss him terribly, especially when I have to relieve all his classes from tomorrow, but his legacy will continue to grow in the three of you. My thoughts and condolences are with you all.

SMITH, Keith Brunton — Died suddenly on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Middlemore Hospital. Loved and admired brother of Barbara Burgess who, with her husband Geoff will miss his quirky presence, fun and laughter. Nephews Michael and Richard Burgess along with Wives Kate and Ang will sadly miss his knowledgeable conversation and extreme wit but most of all his interest in them. Great-nieces Florence and Lucy have been robbed of a colourful influence in their lives.
Keith - you were always looking on the bright side of life - may we all learn from your example.
With thanks to the doctors and staff of Middlemore Hospital for their professionalism and compassion.
