Keith GROUT Obituary

GROUT, Keith Stephen:
Born Lyttelton Maternity Hospital 22.04.56. Gone is my big brother with a grumpy gruffness that hid a heart of gold. Your personality was unique Keith you teased and you joked and left some aghast. But for those that looked beyond that, there was such a kind and loving man, my big bro, we had some very happy times and I will always remember and love you. Be at peace on the otherside and Curtis will show you the ropes, I'll see you there in a while. Love always, your little blister with the Toymotor, (Julie). Many thanks to St John Ambulance.

Keith is an amazing friend with the biggest heart you would have imagined and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was one of my best friends even though we didn't see each other muck in the last few years as we got older and lost contact with each other we were still friends. I loved him so much as a friend, he will be so sadly missed. We had so much fun when we were younger Including his Mum (Margaret) sister Alison. He may have not had any children of his own but he treated his Nephews, Nieces, our children like his own along with those he had a relationship and their children like his own no matter their age. He was one caring big-hearted, old man I called him, he is a little older than me by 3 months lol. I know he loved that as well. Keith used to work the night shift at Steves pies back in the day as he lived in Littleton and I didn't have a car a few days a week he would stay at my place and he would let me have the car so I could do what I needed to do as I walked everywhere. He told me while laughing, when I use to drive his car and take him home up that very steep hill Keth said I was the only one who could do wheelies uphill in his mark 3 Zepher.
Keith's family have lost an amazing brother, uncle friend and son may he rest in peace, forever in our hearts Love you mate fly high.

I'm Lynette and Graemes' daughter Kate. Keith boarded with us for over 10 years and your 100% correct Julie, he looked gruff but he had the kindest heart and i have so many fond memories of Keith taking us out as kids and doing things with us in the weekend, Keith was a huge part of our family. He would tease us and he gave my brother his nick name Wopo which we use to this day for Keith and my brother. He loved his family and even took us to meet his Mum and Dad in Timaru once on a road trip and he talked about his brothers and sisters often. I'm so very sad to hear of his passing, Keith was very loved and will be sorely missed. Rest easy Wopo xx
