Kathleen GUY Obituary

GUY, Kathleen Winifred
(Kate, Kathy):
November 1941 - April 2022
Beloved and devoted mummy, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, through thick and thin. Kathleen greeted life with a twinkle in her eye, cheeky grin, sharp wit, and a spring in her step. She was a deeply principled, passionate, and determined advocate for social equity, education throughout all stages of life, environmental sustainability, preservation of wildlife; and a kinder, more peaceful, more enlightened world. Highly skilled and absolutely bloody mad-keen alpine skier, racer, coach, and teacher. Lover of the arts; and self-declared Beethoven groupie. Happiest in the mountains, experiencing and sharing the joy of everything they are. Her compassion, enthusiasm, wit, humour, knowledge, and forward-thinking insight will be sorely missed. She often remarked that, given the opportunity, she would like to be reincarnated as a Kea; so we will think of her gleefully flying high above the mountains, bouncing around in the snow amongst the alpine flowers, and occasionally nibbling on our windscreen wipers. A celebration of Kathleen's life will be held in the spring. Please register interest in her memorial, or messages for her Whānau to: [email protected] In lieu of flowers, Kathleen would have appreciated a donation to an organisation she wholeheartedly supported in life, either the Green Party of Aotearoa

On behalf of the Stemmer family I extend heartfelt sympathy to the Guy Family. We have fond memories of Kathleen from Kinsey Terrace to Mount Hutt. Kathleen's association with the Stemmer family dates back to the early 1950's when our parents rented Tina and George Guy's flat below their Kinsey Terrace home. Kathleen will hold a special place in the hearts of our family members. Sent with Love.

With sympathy to your family . It is with sadness I remember the wonderful days of ski racing, with you and I and later in the Masters. Those wonderful days in the mountains as young and energetic skiers. Fly high Kathy.

Go well Kathy. I recall you being big sister to us kids at Broken River in the 50's. Soar in those valleys.
