I had the great pleasure to work with Karl when I was in NZ with Qantas . We even managed a couple of Bledisloe Cup games in Christchurch where my wife Amanda and I were treated to fantastic Velde hospitality and overnight stays .
I am sorry for your loss but know you will be comforted by the fact the Karl lived a long and rewarding life loved by his family and friends.

Good afternoon Liz & Family
So sorry to hear of Karl´s passing, a person I had great respect for. I never knew he was ill, our paths hadn´t crossed recently . May he be at peace , our tramping times were memorable and those of us who were lucky enough to know Karl, will remember him with fondness like I do. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. We farewell a lovely man with whom we have shared some wonderful times which were often spent in the context of his loving family. Karl will be greatly missed but leaves the remembrance of his positive appreciation of family, friends and life.

To the family,
Andrew and Seth are sorry for your loss. Karl was such a remarkable man, and we cannot imagine how quiet the world must feel without his laughter and generous spirit. He lived his life with joy, curiosity and so much love for his family and friends. He filled each day with humour, kindness and the kind of presence that makes people feel seen and valued, and that´s something truly special. We hope you find comfort in the memories of the good times you shared together.
Please know that we are thinking of Liz, Maria, Matthew, Emma and all of the extended family as you all walk through this.
Karl´s legacy of warmth and laughter will stay with everyone who knew him, and his love live on in his children and grandchildren.
May you all find peace in the stories you remember and the support of those around you.
Whilst we cannot attend the funeral in person we will be online and sending our thoughts and love to celebrate Karls life.
Andrew & Seth
