Judith REID Obituary

With great sadness, I announce the passing of my darling wife Judith at Nelson Hospital in the early hours of Monday morning, March 31, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with metastatic breast cancer, during which time Judith and I were able to travel back to the UK to see family and friends and enjoy numerous overseas holidays. Judith finally succumbed to the inevitable, mere weeks after our final holiday; a trip to The Bay of Islands, a circular journey that began with our honeymoon at Paihia 42 years ago. Dearly loved wife of Iain. Sister and sister-in-law of Robyn and Peter, Alison and John. Aunt to Rebecca, William and Miriam; Melissa, and Karen, and great-aunt to Emma, and Olivia; Conor, and Milan; Charlotte, and Mitchell. A cherished friend to all who were blessed by knowing Judith throughout her 61 years of spreading love and kindness especially (in the UK) Emma, Vicky, Sheena, Gwenyth, Alex, Gillan and Rebecca, Elma and Mike, Colin and Robert (and Monty ), and in Nelson, Caroline and Frank. As per Judith's wishes, she was cremated at the Hope Gardens of Remembrance (Tasman) on April 3. A memorial service to celebrate Judith's life will be held at 10.00am on Sunday, May 11 at Bell Lamb and Trotter Funeral Directors, 420 St Asaph Street, Phillipstown, Christchurch 8145. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed, to view the service go to www.blt.co.nz/obituaries and click on "Watch the Service" below Judith's name. Judith and Iain have sent cards every single birthday and Christmas without fail every single year, I will always remember all of the times I spent with them in my childhood fondly. Judith was always so incredibly kind to me and I will miss her dearly. Love from Hannah Miller

Beautiful kind Judith. I can´t believe you are gone so soon - too soon. We had so many fun times together - belly dancing, Burns nights, skiing...You brought light and fun into the room whenever you walked in. I will miss your laugh, updates from New Zealand (written with such warmth and positivity), dedication to Columbo and your pavlova.

I feel very lucky to have known you and to have been able to say you were my friend. You will always be in our hearts, Rebecca and Gillan x

Iain and Family.

It's still so hard to believe that Judith is no longer with us. Judith was such a kind and caring person with a great sense of humour and was always fun to be around. We will remember fondly the great times we had together.

Judith will always be in our thoughts and she will be greatly missed.
