Judith, I am late to hear of this. It's the problem with living so far away and removed from circles of communication. I emailed you back when we were coming to New Zealand in 2013 and got the email returned. I should have tried harder to find you. I'm so sorry I didn't know. I've just been writing about Rangipo today and the time he took us to Taranaki for a blessing. I thought of you again and decided that I would try and find you, only to see I am too late. He aitua! All my love to you and Rangipo now on the other side of this great mystery. Moe mai Judith, moe mai.

Judith, My dear friend,
A page has been turned in my book of life and i must go on without your treasured friendship and company. Your calm, sincere and encouraging presence in my life is echoed in the sentiments of others on these pages. I treasure the memories i have of our days at WHS and then in the Sidewalk Cafe and on my more recent visits to you. May you be at rest and in a beautiful place with your beloved Rangipo and may we meet again one day .Till then, Arohanui, my dear friend.Marie Read

A reliable and guiding hand for all the students of Turakina Maori Girls College, Marton. The people of Putiki, Whanganui also acknowledge your passing Mrs Metekingi as being the devoted wife of our whanaunga (relation) Rangipo Metekingi of Whanganui iwi.

Your gentle smile and advocacy for the significance of te reo Maori, Maori history and literature will be ever embraced and engraved in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have your influence in their lives.

At your farewell at TMGC I aligned your reputation to that of the athlete MJ (Michael Jordan) and quoted:
"... people are wearing t-shirts with the phrase "I wana be like mike! Well, we all wana be like Mrs Metekingi"

Your service to Turakina Maori Girls College is forever embedded in our hearts Miss.
