Judith is a great loss to education and in particular the early childhood sector, both in New Zealand and internationally. Her thoughtful but provocative contributions to theory and research will be greatly missed. As an academic peer, Judith was without parallel - enormously kind, but also forthright and direct when the need arose. She was my friend and I will miss our debates and the laughs we had together when we met. I hope that life is kind to both Frank and Lucas and that they know that many people are thinking of them and share their loss. As Judith would say, Hugs! Arohanui.
