VAREM, Joseph Marie Edmond

Joe Varem passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Calgary, Alberta. He was born in Antwerp, Belgium where Joe later met his wife Nicole. They had three children in Belgium before immigrating to Calgary in 1958 where they had two more children. Joe was a woodworking artisan and worked as a finishing carpenter in the housing industry in Calgary before opening his own business, Varem Spindle Manufacturing. Joe retired from work, but continued woodworking through and into his eighties. Joe was predeceased by his wife Nicole in 2012. He will be greatly missed by his children: Emmanuel (Susan), Thierry (Charlotte), Dominique (Guy), and Gabrielle, Bernard (Susie); his ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. The family wish to thank the staff at Providence Care Centre for their loving care and support. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church (321-90 Avenue SE) on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church (321-90 Avenue SE) on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
