Joseph ARMSTRONG Obituary

Died in Christchurch Hospital on January 27, 1926, aged 76. Son of John Francis Armstrong and Annie Armstrong (née Bowman), married to Annie Elizabeth Abbott. With his father, Joseph established the Christchurch Botanic Garden, and documented, studied, conserved, displayed, and published research and articles on the New Zealand flora. Benefactor of Christchurch relatives: sister-in-law Hannah Taylor (née Abbott) and children of Hannah and James Taylor: James, Edgar Scott, Muriel, Reginald, and Alice Ann Taylor; also of South Canterbury cousins Margaret Beattie Tondro (née Leeson), John Joseph Shaw, and Maria Shaw.
