John WILLIAMS Obituary

On September 16, 2025, peacefully at Alpine View Care Centre, aged 94 years. Dearly loved husband of Claire, loved father and father-in-law of Hugh and Kerrie, Philip and Fukiko, Gerard and Suzie, Guy and Yayoi, loved Grandad of Mayuko and Shinobu, Nicholas and Monique, Anna, Lucy, Kate, and Jonny, Luke and Ivy. The family would like to thank the staff of Alpine View Retirement Village for his care. Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Jack Williams, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. A memorial service to celebrate Jack's life will be held in Trinity Church, Darfield, 2 Mclaughlins Road, Darfield, on Tuesday, September 23, at 11.00am.

Memories of hearing about and having visits from Jack to Crookston, bear Heriot in West Otago. My Mother, Frances enjoyed providing hospitality at our farm along from Grandad Ab Ottrey's all those years ago. I can remember visiting Jack and Claire in Christchurch back in 1989 - 90 when I first moving to Christchurch - I remember the four sons being at home there on the hill. I used to see Jack on a regular basis when he was having a lunch time walk over by The Edmonds' Monument when I worked in Trustbank NZ in Transport House on Salisbury Street!!! I was known as Frances's daughter!! ( Mother was Jack's cousin). ...On behalf of my extended family, I pass on my condolences to Claire and Family.
