John SOWDEN Obituary
On Monday, August 6, 2018, died unexpectedly at his home in Kaikoura. Dearly loved husband of Maralyn. Loved father and father-in-law of Bruce and Kaylene, Tracy and Luke. Loved stepdad of Jason, Craig and Kylie. Loved granddad of all of his grandchildren. Respected brother-in-law of Peter and Sue, Rosie, John and Gina. Loved mate of Kobi dog. A very special thanks to Dr Chris Henry and the staff of Kaikoura Emergency Services. Messages of sympathy can be sent C/- Sowden Family, PO Box 134, Kaikoura. A service to celebrate Sowdy's life will be held at the Kaikoura Trotting Club, South Bay, Kaikoura, on Friday, August 10, 2018, at 2.00pm, followed by burial at the Kaikoura Public Cemetery.

Dear Maralyn, Chris and I have just heard about John's passing. We are so terribly sad to hear this news and thinking of you. He was a very special man and as the "townies down the road" we are very grateful for all the practical farming advice and assistance both you and John have given us over the years. Dear Sowdie, wow what a shock, so very sad that I cannot say goodbye to you tomorrow when I am in the hills on Saturday I will say good bye then. Dear Marilyn & Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Sowdy's sudden passing. I have some very fond memories of all the livestock deals and trips away buying livestock with this big gentle giant. Sowdy was a great stockman and a great judge of livestock who will be sadly missed.

Hello Maralyn, Crikey what a shock to hear, Who would have thought that could happen to Sowdy. I have a good memory or two of Sowdy. I reckon he could still pull a plough with out a tractor. Please accept our sincere condolences.
