On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Christchurch Hospital, aged 88 years. Dearly loved husband of June for 64 years, loved father and father-in-law of Hamish and Jo, Niven and Dagmara, Andrea and Phil, and Chris and Shirley, and foster dad of Neil Scott. Cherished grandfather of Dianna and Darren, James, Maja and Tola, Morgan and Regan, Caleb, and great-grandfather of Emily and Asher. Beloved brother and brother-in-law of Peter (dec) and Barbara; Joy (dec); Frank and Frances; Rosemary; Caroline (dec) and Ray (dec); Margaret and Ron, and uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Ward 24 Riverside at Christchurch Hospital for their care shown to both John and our family. A funeral service to celebrate John's life will be held at Hoon Hay Presbyterian Church, 5 Downing Street, Hoon Hay, Christchurch, on Wednesday, February 28 at 1.00pm. Uncle John will always be cherished and remembered in our hearts as a remarkable family man.
Uncle John's Christian faith was very much part of his life but it was family that was his world, he was always so proud of them.
As extended family, he always kept in contact, we would enjoy all his phone calls to chat and catch up to talk about family and remembering the good old times.
Uncle John was so amazing on the banjo and I used to love to listen as he played, he had such an incredible voice.
Uncle John, you will always live on in our hearts and your memories treasured forever

John was such a kind and generous man. He continued to think of others even when he was unwell. The Dieudonne family are grateful for the unfailing generosity he afforded our Dad Hans. Rest in peace John.
