Dear Olwyn
I was really saddened to just learn from RNZCGP news, that John had died in August. As you know we were in the same class at Med School and had similar career paths in the College. I really valued his friendship.
I last saw John in Auckland at our 60th year reunion in 2015 and we had a bit of email correspondence after that.
I am in the Rita Angus Retirement Village in Wellington and apart from deafness, moderately well. Kay has advanced dementia and is in the Te Hopai hospital, not far from here.
Please accept my condolences Olwyn and pass them on to members of your family.
Kindest regards
Tom

A mighty totara has fallen!
Dr. John was my doctor, my respected friend, confidante and mentor and a principled and compassionate man.
John provided hours of care to the patients at the Nurse Maude Memorial Hospital ( where he had previously been a member of the Board) and he provided relief cover for the Nurse Maude hospice ,newly established in 1996)
It was my great good fortune to work again with John, in his roles of Chair of the Windsor House Board and Cottage Trusts. (as an Age Concern representative.)
He was a wise and wonderful man.
Olwyn, Felicity, Richard and families- I salute you all and wish many happy memories of this wonderful man.

Dr Musgrove was my first doctor after I was married, when his surgery was at Greers Road. He delivered my two children. He was very kind and and understanding, and I had complete trust in him. To you all, his family and friends, please accept my deepest sympathy and kind thoughts.
