I will always have very fond memories of Uncle Jock. From when I was a small boy I remember many happy visits to to the McPhail home on Hackthorne Road. Jock and Lesley were great hosts who always made everybody feel most welcome. Jock had a great store of interesting stories including many relating to his service in the Second World War, which were of particular interest to me. Years ago when I was in hospital after having a stroke he made a special trip to visit me. His eyesight was bad even then and it was a real effort for him to make the trip. This act of kindness was typical of Jock's thoughtful and caring nature. Jock was a fine man whose memory will live on in all who knew him. My thoughts are with my McPhail cousins and their families at this sad time.
