John McCASKEY Obituary

On Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Burwood Hospital, aged 78 years. John passed away peacefully in his beloved wife Joy's arms after a short illness. John was a loving, caring husband of Joy McCaskey, cherished brother of Pauline and Peter, loved father of Dean and Glenn, treasured stepfather of Ashton and Ngaio, Brendon and Charlotte, and Cameron, and adored grandfather of Lewis, Bella, Millie, Josh, Jack, Elliott, Katie and Poppy. John's funeral service will be held in the John Rhind Chapel, entrance from London or Whitmore Streets, Richmond, Christchurch, on Friday, September 12, at 1.00pm. A celebration of John's life will follow at 3.00pm at Club Redcliffs, 9 James Street, Redcliffs, Christchurch.

To Joy & John's family. It was shattering to hear today that John had passed away and we hadn't known and not attended his celebration of life. John's family was a local Sumner family as was mine the MacDougall's. We had great times growing up in Sumner; John was always a bright spark with a joke or two to tell. Glenn and Dean haven't seen you both since you were young fellas but I am sure you have great memories of John and times together. Take care and sincerest sympathy Sharyn (MacDougall) and Bryan Lane.
