I remember very fondly my connections with John as a Riccarton ream-mate - a tremendous player and very helpful friend who gave tons of worthwhile advise. My sympathy to his family and I know there will be many friends and old team-mates who will miss him.

I can recall having the pleasure of being able to watch John bowl his left arm medium paced deliveries for Canterbury, at Lancaster Park. He took 141 first class wickers for Canterbury. John also played hockey for Canterbury and High School Old Boys. I later played in many hockey matches opposing John's HSOB team in the senior competition in Christchurch. John was highly regarded by his opponents both as a player and a person. My deepest sympathy to John's relatives.

Dear Betty, Martin, Grant and families
Our thoughts are with you at this sad time
Special memories in earlier years at Riccarton Cricket Club. Pleased we had a good chat at the last function John attended at the club.
