John JONES Obituary

Condolences to the family of the late JJ former Director of Civil Aviation (Cook Islands). Aere ra e tama.

Dear Kate, our condolences to you & family.
John was a friend, a fellow crewmember, expert aviator and a thorough gentleman. We last met ages ago but memories of yesteryear are still sharp. It was a privilege to have known him. Ni sa moce Turanga.

Our deepest sadness to Kate and all of your family. What a wonderful send off you gave John on Monday - he is an amazing person. We always enjoyed his company whether at rotary or on a plane in the cockpit. Kia Kaha and never forget.

John was an excellent colleague and Flying Instructor at the Christchurch Central Flying School.

My sincere condolences for the passing of JJ, my apologies as cannot make his funeral today, thinking of you all.

I will always remember John as a wonderful friend and colleague, specifically relating to work as President of AIANZ and as CEO CTC Flight training nz limited, John and I often shared a meal , a drink or two and many laughs at the Narrows Landing when we both stayed there. I never heard John say a negative thing about anyone, he always focused on the positive, rest easy John, look forward to a catch up when I join you. Don McCracken

Christchurch Central Flying School December 1965. John instructed me on ZK-CKW. Instantly became friends. Our paths crossed frequently during our long careers in flying So sorry for your loss.

The Waimate Brown sisters have special memories of time spent at the Jones family home in the 1950s&60s. Our sincere thoughts are with you Kate & John´s family, including Camille & Max and families. Jocelyn,Hilary,Alison & Philippa.

Condolences Kate and family, sad to hear of your loss. I'll always have fond memories of my time at CAA when JJ was boss - the most personable CEO I've ever worked with. He always cared about people, and I was always able to discuss anything with him.

Hello Kate, very sorry to hear the news. Will always remember John´s fun-loving banter at social occasions, particularly at our Friday ritual curry lunches at the Masala when he was DCA.

Dear Kate and family. I was so saddened to hear of Johns passing. I have the most wonderful childhood memories of John in particular standing between the front and back seats of your Capri "go fast John Jones", amongst many others. I have let Mum know (Yvonne Webster) sadly her memory is not that great anymore but she most certainly passes on her love and thoughts.

So sorry for your loss. JJ was one of the best.
As the Director of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive he made it his personal mission to walk around every week and ask how the family was, new your children by name.
JJ showed compassion and care and was always up for a chat, drink and laugh outside of his dedication to work. Kate thank you for the lunches and kindness you showed us when living in the apartment in Oriental Bay, those fond memories will always be with me.
