John was an exceptional person who I had the privilege of knowing.

Dear Val and family, so sad to hear of John's passing, have been trying to get to Nelson to catch up for some time but it didn't happen. We go back to Grey Main school in Greymouth, we were class mates and had the pleasure of John's company at 2 reunions that we managed to organise. What a gap in the lives of you all, rest in peace John you deserve it.

Our love and thoughts go to Val and family at this very sad time.
The world has lost one of life´s true gentlemen. You would be hard pressed to find a more kind, generous and lovely man than John - always with a huge smile and a welcoming hug.
I´m sure he leaves a huge hole in everyone´s lives and will be greatly missed by many.
