GRENELL, John Denver:Peacefully on July 27, 2022 at Darfield, aged 78.
He maimai aroha ki te rangatira John
- Ngāi tahu, Ngāti toa, Ngti Mutunga, English, nā tōna whānau-nui-tonu.
Dearly loved son of Nellie, deeply loved father of Denver, Oakley, Redford and Amiria, former husband and longtime friend of Deirdre and Roger, loved father-in-law of Kate, Cowboy Grandad of Sienna, India and Levon, cherished big brother of Ainsley, Chris, Paul and Liz and the late Lorraine, Marilyn and David, much loved Uncle to all his nieces, nephews and extended whānau, special friend to Jennie. A beloved singer and country music legend. John has been farewelled by the family and laid to rest in the South Malvern Cemetery in Glentunnel. A public musical celebration of John's life will be held in the James Hay Theatre, Ōtautahi Christchurch Town Hall at 2pm TODAY Saturday August 6, all welcome. Livestreamfor the concert at

Thank you Family for the wonderful send off at the James Hay Theatre celebrating the life of John. I (John ) toured with him in the 1960's with the Country & Western and Miss NZ Shows with my Uncle Joe Brown & son Dennis.
I was a "Roadie" on the tours & sold many of his LP's around NZ. Even sat in on all his Joe Brown recordings in Dunedin .
We were really good friends and went on our own Journeys to raise our families. I did catch up with him at his 70th Birthday. Thank you again for letting us be part of his farewell. You are a wonderful family

John will be missed by the staff and residents in Darfield it was such a pleasure to have a chat with John every thursday when i dropped my brother off for day care, remember the great memories many thoughts are with you all.
