Robert was a great friend of our family. He was mates of my Dad all his life, and was good to me. When I was in the North Island he would always look me up. I would get a phone call asking 'would the bank lend me some money to buy a digger? I knew immediately it was Robert. We love coming out to Leeston and going down Drain Road, and poking around the shrubbery, the 'TAB' and mucking around in the mud.

Sincere Sympathy to Roberts Family. He was a frequent visitor to Gerard over the last years of his life. I loved talking with him about the history of our district. Kathleen McMahon.
