On January 29, 2023, aged 87 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Barbara, treasured father and father-in-law of Kirsty and Michael, Lisa and Isaia, and Jonathan and Tania. Much adored grandad/pop of Olive, Malia, Michael and Danielle, Jordan, Ileana, Ben, Alex, Niamh, Libby, and Keira. Dearly loved brother-in-law of Lois, Margaret, Eleanor, Bill and Robyn, and friend of many. Adored uncle and friend/coach of many. Messages to the family of the late Ross Gillespie, c/- PO Box 26112, Christchurch 8148. A private cremation has taken place which will be followed by a memorial celebrating Ross's life and achievements, in a few weeks.

Shared many special times with Ross through hockey. A great mentor to me when he invited me to coach his beloved Woolston Men´s Hockey team 1993/94. Always enjoyed his direct approach, his humour and the time he gave. A champion in many respects. Pleased I got to see you in the past two weeks to share a few stories. RIP Ross. David Stuthridge
