John DELIS Obituary

Born 1935 in Bergen, Nord Holland. It is with great sadness we announce the death of Gerard at his home, Fern Bush aged 90. He is now at peace in the environment that he created in 1955. It was a lifetime passion of collecting ferns. Gerard was the loving husband of Joy, his teammate. The wind under his wings. A loved father and father-in-law of Terry and Trina, Paul and Debbie, Andrew and Ellen, and Sarndra. Respected stepfather of Lloyd and Jenny. Opa of Rosa, Grace, Emily, Johanna, and adored Grandad of Holly. Loved and admired brother to his four brothers and four sisters: Adriannus (dec), Johanna (dec), Martha (dec), Jacobus (dec), Alida and Jan, Simeon Willibrordus (dec) and Tineke (dec). Brother-in-law of Arthur, Dave and Jenny, John and Sandra, Rosina Aus, Robert and Rosanne Aus, Mary and David. A respected loved uncle and inspiration to many. Proud to be a Rotarian and to serve the community. A sincere friend to those who knew him.

"Just gone to get more ferns."

A private cremation has taken place.

I was employee of Gerard in the mid-1970s. He took an interest in me and was instrumental in me getting my first house. He went beyond the call of duty in other areas too: we went fishing and shooting together around the South Island. I'll always be extremely grateful.
