I was 12, in the early 1960s, when John and Fay became our neighbours. I sometimes baby sat their children and in later years they babysat ours. The Coleys were great and interesting neighbours.
We maintained contact after we all shifted away.
John was a great communicator and well respected artist. I treasure his paintings which we still have. A life well lived. Arohanui from our family. John and Janette.

Mr Coley was my art tutor at ChCh Teacher´s College late 1960´s. Always remember his enthusiasm in class. I made a wonderful art portfolio with Mr Coley´s guidance. Through his influence I always had the children´s artwork gracing the classroom walls making the learning environment aesthetically pleasing. RIP My Coley.

Sincere condolences to Fay and family. John was my back door neighbour in Papanui and I used to babysit his sons. John gave me one of his paintings, Magicians Hat for my 21st birthday. I remember his paintings very well including a huge one of the Canterbury Plains in his particular style of painting.
