John David: QSM JP
EX NAC/AIR NZ On February 9, 2019, peacefully at Nurse Maude Hospital, aged 86 years. Much loved husband of the late Joan, loved father of the late John, and adored Gug of Melissa and Warren, and Christopher, loved son, of the late Orton and Mary. Much loved brother of the late Patrick and Stella, the late Noel and Frances, the late Desmond, the late John Barry, Alison and the late Tom Comerford, and Helen and the late Maurice Boland. A much loved uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Messages to the Burke family c/- PO Box 26112, Christchurch 8148.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Mary's Pro Cathedral, 373 Manchester Street, on Saturday, February 16 at 12.30pm, interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

we were good friends when we were teenagers in Harold Hill Essez and use to go on camping holidays to cornwell will one small tent between me john and our other friend terry have great times together but he was determined to go to train with the best judo experts in the world so he joined the mechent navy and got off in japan to learn will the best judo experts in the world and never came home again i am now in my 80's but still remember the good times we had in those days

Such a true gentleman with a genuine gift to reach people from all walks of life. John knew my grandparents and he was the one our family always called on, in happy times and sad. He will be truly missed and my sincere thoughts and condolences go to his family.

John had a special ability to connect with all peoples. He was a compassionate sincere and reliable friend whom I will miss very much. I was so looking forward to the ride in the Rolls to lunch at your favourite Thai but unfortunately, I wasn't well enough then it was your turn to not be well enough. I am so blessed to have had you in my life and I am all the richer for having so. Rest in peace my dear friend until we meet again.
