John Edwin BLACKLER

John BLACKLER Obituary

On July 25, 2024, peacefully at home with Lauris by his side, in his 86th year. Dearly loved husband of Lauris for 65 years, much loved father and father-in-law of Tony and Sandy, Steve and Tina, Terry and Amanda, treasured grandfather of Gareth and Maddie, Brogan and Holly; Cassie, Sam and Asha; Ben, and James, loved great-grandfather of Koby, Maddyn, and Brody. Loved brother of
Tony and the late Noel, Pat, Linty, Maureen, and Brian. Messages may be sent to PO Box 35017, Shirley, Christchurch 8640. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated and may be made online at: cancer.org.nz. The funeral service for John will be held in our AvonPark Chapel, corner Kerrs and Pages Roads, Linwood, This Day (Wednesday), at 2.30pm, followed by a private cremation.

Thanks for your friendship and so many memories of when we were young.
Working the "big machine" at the ANZ bank. Good times and hard times at Ryan Bros together. Evenings at Tedder Ave, (your stag party) weddings, christenings and funerals. Always remembered.

Thank you for opening up your home for us all those years ago. (58 years.) For your, Ryan Bros, workplace stories some of which were hilarious others extremely frightening but above all the long days of solid hard slog. Thank you and Lauris for your trips south to visit Mum. Thanks for your friendship.

My condolences to the family, I became friends with John in 1981 when we did our first contract together at Cromwell.
He was a good honest and capable man.
