Dear Jo - you were a good friend and we shared many happy times at school in Kenya, at college, in London when we did our great OE, and when you came to NZ with Tony and the girls. You were practical, honest, clever and a lot of fun. I'll miss you and will treasure the memories.

Zontians in Canterbury express their deep sadness to Tony and family at the loss of a dear friend and fellow Zontian who served at local, national and international levels selflessly since joining the organisation in 1977 as a charter member of the Zonta Club of North Christchurch, then as a member of the Zonta Club of North Canterbury and latterly the Zonta Club of Waimakariri.

Joanne held many positions at various levels in Zonta, participated enthusiastically in all fundraising and service projects, and was the friendly face of Zonta to many in Rangiora who received visits and library books over many years. Tony supported Joanne in all these endeavours and many lifelong friendships were formed with the common interest of making a difference in the lives of others.

Thank you for your friendship and service, dear Joanne – we will always remember your sense of fun and generosity of spirit. You truly epitomised Zonta’s mission of empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.

On behalf of Members and past Members of the Woodend Volunteer Fire Brigade, I'd like to offer our condolences to Tony and family. Lew and I knew Joanne over many years through the Brigade and enjoyed her friendship over that time. She'll be sadly missed.
