Joan MEATES Obituary

Passed away peacefully in Hokitika on April 29, 2025. Beloved daughter of the late Gerhard and Charlotte Fitzgerald, dearly loved wife of the late Jack, loved and cherished mother and mother-in-law of Patrick and Kirsty, and the late Sharon, Michael and Vicky, Sharleen and Colin Stewart, Jacque and D'Arcy Lucas, Chris and Donna, and Tracy, treasured grandmother of Hamish, Sammuel, Gracce, Priscilla, Hannah, Caitlin, Michaela, Sharlotte, Pattrick, Vincent, Ella, Eilish, Paige, Sam and Haley, great-grandmother of Ayla, Layce, Violet, Izzy, Hudson, and Jack, sister and sister-in-law of Gerard and Jill Fitzgerald, Mike and Joan Fitzgerald, Charlotte and the late Frank Greenlees, Eileen and the late Davie Topliss, and the late Pat and Rosa Fitzgerald, sister-in-law of Jean and the late Kevin Meates, Brian (deceased) and Margaret Meates, and the late Bill and Nancy Meates, Sister Patricia Meates, Vince and Noleen Meates, and Father Jimmy Meates, a loved aunty, cousin and friend of many. Messages to P.O. Box 104, Hokitika 7842. A Funeral Mass for Joan will be celebrated in St Patricks Catholic Church, Kumara, on Saturday at 1.00pm. Joan will then be laid to rest with Jack at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Gladstone. Recitation of the Rosary will at the Church tomorrow (Friday) at 6.00pm.
