Retired Teacher – On December 7, 2025, at Elmswood Hospital, Bryndwr. Aged 95 years. Wife of the late Allen. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Craig and Kate, Brett and Bridget, and Jill and Rob. Cherished Nan of Hannah, Jess, Jonty, Hugo, Lucy, and Ollie. Joan's family wish to acknowledge the amazing staff at Elmswood Hospital for their loving care. Messages for the Hibbert Family may be sent c/- PO Box 26051, North Avon, Christchurch 8148. Im so sorry for your loss. I have so many wonderful memories of Joan at wilding park as a junior playing tennis. She encouraged me to give umpiring a go and not just play at tournaments. Then I got a lovely surprise when I went to high school to find she was my PE teacher as well. I struggled to fit in as my family didn't have a lot of money or status and she was always so encouraging of me. Im saddened to see she's passed as I made contact with burwood tennis club to find her and no-one would give me details as I wanted to visit her to thank her for the huge difference she made in my life. Fly high Joan and I hope youre watching a few good tennis tournaments from above.
