CURRY, Joan:
On Friday, July 21, 2017, at Christchurch Hospital, aged 84 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Tony, loved mother and mother-in-law of Simon and Janet, and treasured Grandma of Gemma, Sarah, and Nick. Messages to the Curry Family, C/- 19 London Street, Christchurch 8013. A celebration of Joan's life will be held in the John Rhind Chapel, entrance from London and Whitmore Streets, Christchurch, Tomorrow (Tuesday), July 25, at 10.00am.

To Joan's family
I have just learned of Joan's passing - please accept my deepest sympathy.
Though we never met in person, Joan and I enjoyed quite frequent conversation via email in relation to the book reviews she wrote for FlaxFlower reviews. Messages from her were always a pleasure to receive, and there's no doubt she was one of my favourite reviewers - intelligent, literate, and right on the subject. I will miss her for the reviews and her friendly correspondence.

I am so sorry for your loss.

While we never met face to face due to the distance from here in Canada, Joan (my late mother's Yvonne's cousin) and I emailed back and forth regularly over the past couple of decades. She was an incredible source for our shared family histories and kindled that interest in me.

I am very glad I was able to get to know her- even if it was sadly just online.

I will miss her dearly.
