I only got to know Jeremy in the last few years of his life - and in connection with the Worshipful Company of Carmen, which he served - in various capacities - with great devotion and vigour. He was the inspiration and driving force behind establishing the Carmen Singers, founding and funding the Carmen's choir to provide music for the Company's official occasions. Conscientious and committed, Jeremy made an impressive contribution to many aspects of commercial and social life. His will be a hard act to follow, or even emulate.

Jeremy was a valued colleague over many years as a governor at St Olave's School and Foundation. In all my dealings with him I appreciated his wise and relevant counsel, always offered with a liberal sprinkling of humour and good grace.
