Jennifer McILRAITH Obituary

Passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, aged 76. Dearly loved daughter of the late Rex and Jan Grimmett. Adored mother of Scott, James, and Janet. Cherished grandmother of Isabel, Hamish, Calum, George, and Juliet. Much loved sister of Jeff and sister-in-law of Sally and Rose. Cherished friend, aunt, great-aunt, and dearly loved by all those she considered family. Grateful thanks to Nurse Maude Hospice for their compassion and kindness. Messages may be addressed to the late Jennifer McIlraith, PO Box 26051, North Avon, Christchurch 8148. A celebration of Jenny's life will be held in the John Rhind Chapel, entrance of London and Whitmore Streets, Richmond, Christchurch, on Friday, July 25, at 10.00am.

Jenny you made my day with your humour n quick wit when you visited my client/friend Barb at Ngaio Marsh. I never had a dull day with you around. Although we did lose contact after Barb's passing l often thought about you. Your dedication to Barb, your family n grandies n anyone else whom you knew made me feel like family, too.
Thanks for our fun times and discussions, Jenny, R.I.P. to one of the best relative to have within a family. May God rest your weary body now. XX

I am so sorry to learn of Jenny's passing. My sincerest condolences to Scott, James and Janet, family and friends. I have many wonderful memories of times spent at Grassy Hills and will always remember Jenny for her lovely smile, quick wit and ability to make everyone feel so welcome. No matter how many (teens) showed up at the dinner table, Jenny accepted and included us all with good humour and grace.

Jenny was a High School friend. We lost contact as adults, but had fun (especially in the 6th Form when we `starred´ in `Trial by Jury´). Condolences to Jenny´s many friends and family.

I feel so saddened by the news of Jenny's passing. Jenny always made me feel so welcome at Grassy Hills, and treated me like a daughter. I feel so fortunate to have known her and shared many fun times in her company and in her home. I will remember her as a generous, kind and loving person, whose family was at her core.
