Jean MEHRTENS Obituary

Died on Sunday, November 12, 2023, aged 71 years. Her strong faith gave her the courage and quiet determination to fight her illness for many months and to accept when the fight was over. Loved daughter of the late Peter and Ivy; sister of the late David. Dearly loved sister of Alan, she will be greatly missed. He giveth his beloved sleep. Sincere thanks to all the staff of Wards A3 and B3 at Christchurch Hospital for their exceptional care of Jean. Messages may be addressed to "The family of the late Jean Mehrtens" C/- 19 London Street, Richmond, Christchurch 8013. At Jean's request, a private cremation has been held.

So sorry to read that Jean has passed. She was a great friend to my sister Mary Harte. She always looked forward to their meetings for coffee. Jean was always a certainty and pillar in my sister's life.

I remember Jean from Redwood Tennis many years ago now. She was such a lovely lady and a good tennis player who made me feel welcome when I arrived at the club. I am so sorry to hear of her passing.
