Jean ALLPRESS Obituary

ALLPRESS, Jean Elizabeth
(née Polson):
On December 17, 2022, after a long and spirited battle with cancer, a recipient of the incredible new assisted-dying programme. With a smile and a wave she bid us all goodbye, calm and deliberate to the end. Loved and admired wife of the late Bryan, mother to Stafford, Myles and Whetham, grandmother to Arte, Isla, Sepia and Tily, beloved sister, aunty, cousin, friend and confidant to so many. Traveller, teacher, curious cat, spanner in the works. Unbounded now, up with the stars, everything and nothing, as she wished. A private service will be held Saturday morning, January 28 in Christchurch. Messages to [email protected]

Dear family and loved ones. I wanted to share a random memory of the time when I met Jean, during a visit to Akaroa, where I joined a cruise around the bay and the coast, Jan 2021. Jean was also on the cruise, and we became friends for the day. I took her for fish and chips which we really enjoyed, then she introduced me to the place where she had been enjoying her stay, a really unique place called Tree Crop Farm. She was great company and when i recently didn't receive a reply from her by e-mail, the last being Sept 2021, I was able to find this lovely obituary and tribute to her life.

Jean, you were such a stalwart of the family, your literary contribution in your latter years was an invaluable inheritance to those after our generation. Rest in peace Jean and sincere condolences to your family.
