Sending sincere condolences from the Keating Family, Lower Hutt, Wellington. (ie Therese Keating (nee Murphy's ) family).

We remember Jan well over the years, with her and Denis' visits to Wellington popping in to see Harry and Therese - she was always smiling and lots of fun.

May she rest in peace. Sending our love to the family.

Please accept our deepest sympathy on your loss. At home, I still have a small silver cup with Lester and Jan's names on it. Not only was Jan my cousin, she was also my Godmother. I grew up in Timaru thinking that a trip to Christchurch was a special treat, staying in Somerfield St, and, as the years passed, visiting Jan and Denis in their homes in Christchurch. I am forever grateful for being made welcome by my Christchurch relatives and having their good example. Jan was always kind, involved with helping others, and liked a good laugh. May she rest in peace.

Please accept our sympathy and condolences on behalf of our Canterbury Genealogy Society. Jan was a very special and much treasured member of, and tireless worker for our Society, and NZSG Canterbury Branch before that. She was a lovely, thoughtful, kind person to work with, always thoughtful of others.

Denis also did a huge amount, both supporting Jan and multiple fix-it jobs for us as well.

Jan was a member since 1987 and a Life member from May 2014.

Jan was on Committee during the period from 1988 to 1997, and from there on pretty much all the way through until 2014. She worked as the Librarian for very many years, Librarian in Charge from 1998 to at least 2018. Jan was Treasurer from 1996-2001 and Convenor for many years as well (2005-2008, frequent stand-in 2009-2011, and again in 2012-2013), often at the same time as being Librarian in Charge.

Jan served on Committee and on Committee for National NZSG Conferences in Christchurch in 2000 and 2008.

Jan received many awards over the years.
