New Lexington Janet A. O'Nail, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and wrapped in the arms of our Lord on Nov. 20, 2025.
Janet was born on March 3, 1939 in Glouster, Ohio to the late Ross and Mildred Wollet Hogue.
Janet loved her dog Honey, Elvis Presley, and for a time in her life, fast American muscle cars. She was extremely proud of her 1973 Mach-1 Mustang and her 1981 Corvette. She was also an avid Ohio State fan, and would routinely receive calls from former players and called head coach Ryan Day her "cutie pie." Christmas was one of her favorite times and gatherings at Ed's house on Lincoln Street were full of presents (too many, as Ed said... EVERY year). She gave us all so many wonderful memories and showed us that it wasn't always about the gifts, but the memories and the love that mattered. She took great pride in her family. She loved hearing about what they had going on in their lives and would share their joy. Janet married Ed O'Nail, Sr. in 1956 and the couple resided in New Lexington.
She is survived by children, Cathy (Dave) Lanning, Lori (Pearley) Huff, and Edward (Tammy) O'Nail Jr; grandchildren, David (Amy) Lanning Jr., Jay Johnson, Lacie (Mike) Tolliver, Charles Huff, Travis (Danielle) Huff, and Cameron O'Nail; great grandchildren, Hannah Sunkle, Skylar Whaley-Lanning, Kaitlyn, Ava, Benjamin, and Ethan; sisters, Lorena and Rose Mary; and brother, Eddie.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed, sisters, Barbara, Peggy, and Terry Dusenberry, whom she resided with for over 40 years at their home in New Lexington.
Graveside services will be observed by immediate family on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025
