GRIMMETT,Janet Alison (Jan)
(nee Barnes):
Passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, aged 94. Dearly loved wife and best friend of the late Rex. Adored mother of Jenny and Jeff,
and mother-in-law of Sally. Cherished grandmother of Scott, James, Sam, Janet, Claire, and Jaime. Loved Great-Grandma Jan of Willow, Jack, Coral, Isabel, Hamish, Calum, George and Juliet. Much loved daughter of the late Bert and Margaret Barnes of Spotswood and sister of Margaret, Helen, Barb, Peter, Tom, Ian, Anne and Jude and their spouses. Loved aunt, great-aunt and great-great-aunt of many nieces and nephews. Well-loved by many extended family members and friends. Grateful thanks to Vicky, Martin, Lyn and the staff at Ngaio Marsh for their sensitive and loving care. A celebration of Jan's life will be held in the John Rhind Chapel, entrance from Whitmore Streets and London Streets, Christchurch, on Monday, February 13, at 1.00pm.

Jan Grimmett was my aunt, my mum Anne Rout was the second youngest out of the 9 children in this family, Number 8 obviously and I didn't see Jan very often because we lived in Blenheim and she and Rex and Jeff and Jenny lived way down south in the South Island, what I do remember is that she was always a pleasure to talk to and was always interested in how I was going and about my brother Nick as well and my nephew Miles Rout told me a memory that he had of Jan as well which was one Christmas years ago now when he was pretty young he, Mum and Dad came to stay at Jeff Grimmetts holiday home at Kaikoura and Mum, Dad and I were staying there as well that Jan git on his Game Boy game machine and played on it and he was so pleased that an older woman would want to play this game.
She was always a nice person and a nice Aunt to me and shall be missed.
RIP Jan you will never be forgotten.
